On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing 15 ways on how to find time to workout as entrepreneurs with a busy schedule.
These 15 tips will help busy people free up 15 minutes to get in a workout.
All right, let’s jump right into it.
Any good entrepreneur knows the key to time management is delegating meaningless tasks that don’t create any value.
In your case, creating value is your health.
So think about it, is it really worth 4 hours of your time to fix the leaky faucet?
Or would you be better off paying a professional for 15 minutes of work, then use that 15 minutes to kick your butt with a workout?
If you value your health, the answer is option 2.
Rather than just cooking one chicken breast, or fish fillet, every single day, cook 4 chicken breasts at one time.
Then you can simply re-heat, or eat it cold, as a meal or snack tomorrow.
The same thing can be done for cutting up vegetables for salads.
Preparing your food in bulk means preparing for success.
Amazing concept, I know.
Even if you’re a person that will never see 5am, by getting up at 6:45am, instead of 7am, you’re giving yourself an extra 15 minutes to do something you like.
For example, oh I don’t know, working out.
But if you refuse to workout first thing in the morning, use that 15 minutes to complete something that you’d normally do later in the day.
Then you free up those 15 minutes to go kick your butt with a workout later.
Rather than watching your favorite TV show live, record it, then fast forward through the commercials.
TV commercials 👎.
By doing this, 60 minutes of TV watching will quickly turn into 42 minutes, thus leaving you 15 minutes to workout, and of course, a 3 minute bathroom break.
Let’s keep rolling.
We’re all busy.
But do you realize how much time you waste just by thinking about what you should do next?
Making a to-do list will keep your day organized and efficient.
Say hello to some free time to complete your Live Lean 15 minute workout.
This is an old trick, but it works.
If the first thing you see in the morning is your pre-selected workout clothes, you’re more likely to actually get up than rolling over for another 15 minutes of shut eye.
Use those 15 minutes to go workout.
Just like you would schedule a dentist appointment, do the same thing with your workouts.
This way you’re more likely to begin your workout at that scheduled time, rather than clicking refresh 10 more times on your “stocks to watch” page, or Facebook.
Speaking of clicking refresh, stop checking your Twitter feed every 30 seconds.
In my opinion, your health is more important than stalking Justin Timberlake’s next tweet.
Put down your damn iPhone, and walk away.
Most people spend more time comparing the pros and cons of buying a workout program, then the actual amount of time they spend doing the workout.
Be smart, but don’t be afraid to make a decision.
Do it.
I am very guilty of this one.
I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my work, but sometimes it’s just important to finish something well, and then be done with it.
Stop wasting your time trying to achieve perfection.
Most tasks should only take 15 minutes, but without knowing it, they turn into 2 hours of wasted time.
Guilty 🙌.
Don’t fall into that trap.
Be cognizant of how much time you’re actually spending, in other words wasting, doing meaningless tasks.
Put things in their place after you’re done with them.
Why waste 20 minutes looking for your TV remote, when you could give it a familiar home on a shelf next to your cinnamon scented candle.
What?
Dudes can have candles too.
Personally, I’m most focused and productive after my morning coconut oil coffee.
This is when I schedule completing my most pressing tasks, that typically would take the longest time to finish.
In other words, you’re saving time.
Rather than throwing your dirty underwear on the floor, put it directly in the laundry basket.
Rather than putting your dirty dishes on the counter, put them directly in the dishwasher.
Duplicating small efforts can burn a ton of time and energy throughout the day.
This can cut into your workouts.
Let’s jump into the last one.
You can’t be everything to everyone.
You have to take care of yourself first before you can then take care of others.
This may feel selfish in the beginning, but you’ll soon realize a sense of freedom, and better health, once you take back control of your time.
But just don’t say no to your workouts, all right?
So there you have it.
That was 15 ways to save 15 minutes to get in your workouts.
