But let me ask you this.

Are you preparing the healthy foods the wrong way?

Not sure?

Let’s find on out.

4 Unhealthy Cooking Mistakes You’re Probably Making

Here are the 4 unhealthy cooking mistakes you’re probably making.

#1. Using The Microwave

Are you still using the microwave to cook vegetables, defrost meat, or just re-heat leftovers?

Always defrost your frozen food in the refrigerator.

When heating water, heat it in a tea kettle or in a sauce pan.

You should also heat up your leftovers in a frying pan, over low heat.

#2. Frying Olive Oil Over High Heat

I’ve mentioned this plenty of times.

Olive oil is not meant to be heated over high heat because it has a lower smoking point.

The smoke point is the temperature at which the oil begins to breakdown and oxidize.

Oxidation creates free radicals, which is not a good thing for your health.

Stick to avocado oil when you’re cooking foods over higher heat.

The Best Cooking Oil For High Heat

Use olive oil mainly for salad dressings or when cooking over lower heat.

#3. Eating Salad With No Fat Source

Eating salad is great, when you’re actually absorbing all of the vitamins in the salad.

We all know that vegetables are nature’s multivitamin, since they are filled with many vitamins and minerals.

However, many people don’t realize that vitamins are classified as either fat soluble or water soluble.

In other words, the fat soluble vitamins, which are vitamin A, D, E, and K, are absorbed by the body optimally when they are consumed with a fat source.

Next time you are enjoying a delicious salad, add a healthy fat source like olive oil, avocados, nuts, and seeds, to ensure you are absorbing all those fat soluble vitamins.

#4. Overcooking Your Steak

Overcooking your meat on a BBQ or grill to the point where you get those black flakey pieces on the meat can increase your consumption of cancer causing carcinogens.

I’ll keep this one simple.

When it comes to cooking steak, stick to medium.
