On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we’re answering a viewer question who asked, our thoughts on just eating fruits and vegetables during a 7 day insulin reset.

@ArgelliElena from Twitter asks:
What do you think about eating just fruits and vegetables for 1 week to restart the hormonal system, especially insulin?
Brad: To reset insulin, you need to take out a lot of the refined carbohydrates and sugars out of your diet.
By taking out healthy fats and proteins, it’s kind of pointless.
Jess: When you do this, you are essentially having 100% of your calories from carbohydrates and sugar.
Brad: Yes, if you’re looking to reset insulin, I would recommend you lower your carbohydrate intake and increase the healthy fats, and protein intake.
Jess: I’ve actually done this.
I don’t know if I told you about the one time I did the green cleanse, or whatever it’s called.
I’ve done every diet known to man.
When I was first learning about nutrition, I was super gullible.
I would read something and then have to try it, which was great, because it gave me a lot of experience.
I think experience is the best thing you can do, because it’s the best way to learn about it.
One time I did all fruits and vegetables for 15 days.
You feel great initially, because your energy goes up, but then after a while your energy goes down, because you’re missing the balance.
Brad: I’ve never done it before, but I’ve heard people say you don’t feel great for the first three days, since your body is re-acclimating.
After those initial three days, you begin to feel great, however you eventually hit a wall.
Jess: Yes, that’s true.
You get over a hump, but then you hit a wall.
Brad: If I was to put someone on an insulin reset program, it would be comprised of only protein, fats, and vegetables, while keeping your fruit consupmtion a little bit lower.
If you do go on a 1 week fruits and vegetables diet, it will still help you.
However, like we said, it’s still a short-term thing.
Jess: Yes, it definitely will make you feel cleaner inside, so you can try it if you want.
