On today’s vlog episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing a day in the life of living lean, including workout and nutrition tips, and a motivational talk.
In Live Lean Life Vlog Ep. 036 I share:
While Jess and I are getting ready to go to the gym, I’m having my Energizing Superfood pre-workout drink from Rootz Nutrition.

However, before we go to the gym, Jessica and I want to give a special shout out.
We received a special email from a Live Leaner named John.
In the email, John said his girlfriend Lily is a huge fan.
First off, Lily thank you for watching.
John said he has been so proud of her transformation, while changing her mindset and habits to Live Lean.
Based on this, he sent us a 30 second video because he wanted to give her credit with a special shout out for losing 35 pounds.
PS. John looks very professional and on point in the video!
Here’s what John said in the video:
“Hey Brad and Jess. I just want to say thank you again for great chance to give a shout out to my girlfriend Lily. She started following you guys a little less than a year ago. Through all your training tips, eating advice, and programs, she has been able to lose over 35 pounds.
All of your help has completely changed her mind about the fitness world. She’s turned into a training machine, who’s strong and works out harder than any person I know. Besides that, it’s just made her extremely happy with all the results she’s gotten.
So thank you guys so much. On top of that, I want to say how proud I am of her. She’s not only my best friend, but also the best thing that has ever happened to me. Lily, I love you and keep up the good work. It’s been so impressive. You are my inspiration. Thank you.”
Brad: I’m getting tears in my eyes.
Jess: So cute.
Brad: Brother, you just earned some brownie points.
Lily, you got yourself a special guy in John.
Jess: He’s a good man boo, just like you.
Brad: Oh, thanks babe.
Jess: Seriously, he reminds me of how heartfelt and sincere Brad is to me.
That’s what it reminds me of.
It’s great.
Brad: Ah, but this is about John and Lily 😂.
Jess: I know.
Brad: But I do appreciate you saying that.
Jess: Yeah, but John is incredible too.
Brad: It’s just really nice to see other couples out there who support one another.
Jess: I saw the pictures of Lily and she is a stunning, beautiful girl.
She was beautiful before and even more beautiful after.
Brad: Lily, we’re going to use your transformation as another success story on our website.
If you want to send us some other before and after pictures of your transformations, you can send them to us at this email.
That invite also goes out to everybody else as well.
We’ve re-designed our website to really make you the hero of the website, since it’s all about you and the Live Lean Transformation 1,000,000 Mission.
This is why we want as many good before and after photos as we can get from our viewers who have used our programs, have watched our videos, and have learned things from us.
If that is you, send us your before and after photos here.
We would love to feature you on our website.
Since grandpa is in town, Jessica and I are heading off to the gym right now.
While we walked to the gym, we talked about why Jess has not been in the vlogs as much lately.
Here’s how the conversation went:
Brad: I feel like you are not on the vlogs as much anymore.
What’s going on with your life?
Jess: I know.
Brad: Where have you been?
Jess: I’ve been in “mom life”.
I’ve just been spending all my time with the baby.
However, I should just get the camera out more often.
Brad: Yes.
Jess: Guys, I have no excuse.
All right, let’s get to work.
Time to get our gains.
Legs Superset:
During the dumbbell romanian deadlift I was focusing on a slow 4 second eccentric lowering of the weight down, while focusing on keeping my back flat.
This slow and controlled motion will really accentuate the eccentric, tear up a lot of the muscle fibers, and get you the gains.
My heart rate got up to 163 beats per minute after this barbell front squat and dumbbell romanian deadlift superset.
Who says you can’t burn fat and build muscle doing squats?
We don’t say that.
After finishing our workout at the gym, we walked back home.
It was a good workout, sort of.
Even though we had a good workout planned, unfortunately the gym was really busy.
Plus Jessica knew a lot of people in there, so she was chit chatting with everybody, while I was trying to workout.
Jessica is just so popular.
Regardless, just because our workout wasn’t perfect, it doesn’t mean it was a waste of time.
We still had a good sweat, so it’s better than doing nothing.
Whatever the environment is, you just have to roll with it and make the best of it.
Just get something done.
Even though the workout wasn’t optimal, my blood is flowing, I’m feeling energetic, and my muscles are little bit sore.
Ultimately, it is what it is.
Perfection is not the goal, progress is.
So go get it.
Once I got home, I put together my post workout smoothie, with the following ingredients:
I’m now adding in this Turmeric Boost from Gaia.
I used to add just regular turmeric that I’d buy from Costco.
However, regular turmeric doesn’t contain black pepper extract, which is the delivery agent that helps you absorb the curcumin, found in the turmeric.
Black pepper extract is one of the ingredients found in this Turmeric Boost.
Based on this, I like to add two teaspoons of Turmeric Boost to my post workout shake after my workout.
Turmeric has been shown to help with inflammation and is good for your joints.
This is important when you’re Living Lean.
Gains are on their way.
Jess is on the gain train too.
She is getting her gains by adding the following to her post workout shake:
Jess thinks she may have a little bit of a cold coming on, so she’s looking for some extra vitamin C.
Even though she feels fine, her nose is a little bit stuffy.
Jessica never gets sick though.
If this is the sickness, it’s like a once in lifetime.
Well maybe not a lifetime, since she’s been sick a lot of times in her life, however this could be her first time getting sick in 4 years.
It’s been a hot minute, so we’ll see.
Fortunately, my immune system is strong now since I already went through my January cold.
When people are around with the cold, I like to load up on garlic.
I chop up one fresh clove of garlic, then swallow it whole, without chewing, with water.
This will also keep the vampires away.
After doing some walking lunges down the hallway, I’m now back in the office.
Sine it’s Saturday, the office is empty.
I’m actually in my temporary office location since my office is still getting renovated upstairs.
I can’t wait to be in my own office because I’m missing my stand desk.
When I work sitting in a chair, my hips always get tight.
I can’t believe I used to sit in a chair at an office desk for 8 years.
While I’m in the office working, I brought some snacks that I want to share with you.
I brought some of these Myprotein chocolate flavored MyBar Zeros.
These protein bars are very similar to Quest Bars.
They are a low carb.
Each Myprotein MyBar Zero protein bar is:
It’s also sweetened with stevia.
I haven’t tried them yet, but those protein bars are going in my office desk to have for snacks.
I also have Myprotein beef jerky.
That’s going in my office desk.
I also have more homemade trail mix, just like I showed you in the last vlog.
I brought two bags, with each bag containing a 1/2 cup of trail mix for snacks.
I have some of those Jilz crackers that I showed you from Thrive Market.
These Jilz crackers are low carb and higher in healthy fats.
They are made with the following ingredients:
I think that’s it.
All those snacks are going into my office desk, so when I come here and work, I have healthy food to keep me energized.
Of course, I also have my Myprotein jug of water.
I just wanted to share that with you.
We’re now all good.
It’s time to get to work.
If you are wondering what I’m working on right now, I am working on some videos and a new program.
I actually have three programs on the go right now:
It’s a lot of work, but we have some cool stuff coming your way.
Thanks for joining us on this journey, but it’s time for me to go.
Have you been missing my Facebook posts lately?
I’ve been posting a lot of one minute motivational videos to get you thinking differently and taking different actions.
I’m going to share one right now, called Why You’re Failing.
However, if you want to see more of these, go over and check them out on Facebook.
Living Lean is a lifestyle, not a short-term moment in your life.
One of the biggest issues I continuously see with people failing to sustain their health, is this.
Before you can permanently change your body, you must first change your way of thinking.
Just think about that for a second.
In other words, your mind needs to arrive at your desired result, living lean, before your body can get there.
This mindset shift begins with belief.
I personally believe that you, and everyone else, can Live Lean.
But to do that, you, yes you, must first change your thinking and start believing in yourself.
Then, and only then, can you become healthy permanently.
