A Day In A Life Of Living Lean (Part 2)

On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing what I eat in a day to stay lean and healthy.

This is part 2 of my day in the life vlog.

Thank you for coming back to check out part deux.

In part 1 of A Day In The Life Of Living Lean, I thought I may have scared you off with my morning breath, my bed head, or my shirtless activities.

A Day In The Life Of Living Lean (Part 1 Of 2)

Heck, that would scare me away too, unless you look like Eva Mendes.

Anyway.

I’m glad you decided to join me on the rest of this day in a life journey.

During your time with me today, I’ll be showing you what I eat in a day, plus the following:

What I Eat In A Day: A Day In The Life – Part 2:

Let’s get into my day.

8:28 am

After eating breakfast, I took my dog Peyton to the lake because it was way too nice out to be inside.

8:36 am

We arrive at the lake and are ready to go in the water.

One thing I love about where I live is how close the lake is, especially since my dog loves the water so much.

But within 20 seconds of letting Peyton off of his leash, he started rolling in the mud on the path to the lake.

This is what happens when I let him off the leash too early.

He essentially turns from a yellow lab, into a brown lab.

How awesome is that 😐.

8:42 am

After 6 minutes of rolling in the mud, we reach the final destination, the lake.

After playing fetch with a stick in the water, Peyton washes most of the mud off of him before we get back in the car.

9:32 am

Even though he washed off most of the mud, he still stinks like a wet dog.

So it’s time to go back to the apartment and give him a bath.

9:45 am

Since he’s still dirty and smelly, Peyton gets in the shower so I can clean him up.

After 9 minutes of showering, Peyton gives me a special wink 😉 to tell me he’s clean and ready to get out.

10:24 am

Now that Peyton is settled for the morning, it’s time for me to do some grown up work.

After showering, I drive to my other office, where pretty much every other entrepreneur goes to work, Starbucks.

I’m meeting with the marketing manager from NutraSea.

NutraSea is a supplement company that I am a spokesmodel for, so we’re working on a couple big projects.

But before that meeting, I’m working on designing one of my new workout programs, now available, called Live Lean MASS 2.0.

Live Lean MASS 2.0

I’ll also be working on my Eat Clean Live Lean Cookbook, which is also available right now.

Based on the sales, you seem to love how this cookbook is helping you Live Lean.

Although I would love to spend my day at the beach, as an entrepreneur, we need to also make money.

12:16 pm

Just leaving Starbucks.

Had an awesome meeting with Ascenta.

They have a great team there and we’re all excited about my speech at the Can-Fit-Pro conference in Toronto.

My speech is called the, “7 Nutrition Laws To Nutrition“.

Even though it’s still a few months away, they told me the attendance is already 50% booked.

If you ever see me at events or on the street, please introduce yourself and give me a Live Lean hi-5.

12:34 pm

Now I’m back in the kitchen, I’m hungry, so it’s time to eat.

Unfortunately, the fridge still doesn’t have much food, since I haven’t gone to the grocery store yet.

But I promise I will be going grocery shopping later today.

So, based on the lack of food, we have to be creative again with our food selections.

First, find a protein source.

Best Protein Sources For Fat Loss

In this case, I went with eggs.

Next, get some vegetables and fats, and then simply put it all together on a plate.

That’s all it is.

12:41 pm: Cooking My Pre-Workout Meal

All I did was add some meat and vegetables to the eggs in a pan, and scrambled it up.

Then you eat it.

It’s that easy.

Choosing and preparing meals gets a lot easier once you figure out the main components of a meal.

The main components of a meal include:

  • protein source
  • vegetables
  • fats

So first figure out what protein you have access to, then build a meal around it.

For this meal, I have ground beef and eggs as the protein source.

Next, figure out what kind of vegetables you want to have.

For this meal, I have added broccoli, zucchini, yellow bell peppers, and spinach.

For the fats, we have the egg yolk and the meat.

Once you have all three of these components covered, you’re good.

This meal is filling and will help you build muscle and burn fat.

It’s awesome.

12:46 pm: Eating My Pre-workout Meal

This meal is going to be my pre-workout meal.

Best Pre-Workout Meal In The Morning Or Anytime

It’s tasty, delicious, and I feel like I’m getting leaner and stronger with every bite.

After eating my pre-workout meal, I’ll let an hour to an hour and a half pass before I hit the gym.

I also forgot to talk about the importance of drinking water.

Water is essential to Living Lean, so I bring my water bottle with me everywhere.

Even though I had a coffee at Starbucks, I also was drinking a lot of water while I was working there.

2:12 pm: Time To Go To The Gym

It’s time to hit the gym.

I’m excited because it’s day 1 of testing my Live Lean MASS program, which is now available.

I always like to first test out the workout designs from my programs to make sure the:

  • workouts are challenging enough
  • length of the workouts are right
  • exercise selection is ideal
  • overall workout experience is a positive one for you

On the drive to the gym, I like to practice my singing for an upcoming American Idol audition 😂.

I usually have a pre-workout coffee before my workout, but it’s too hot for that.

So today I’m enjoying a sugar free Rockstar energy drink for my pre-workout caffeine source.

Pre Workout Drink

Don’t judge.

I don’t drink energy drinks often, but when I do, it’s usually a sugar free Rockstar.

This will help me kick my butt during this workout.

Funny note, I made it to the gym, but I forgot my sneakers.

Pro-tip: this is why I always keep a back up pair of sneakers in the trunk of my car.

2:43: Start Of My Workout

I first used the rowing machine to warm up.

Then started my chest workout with the barbell flat bench press.

Also finished up with some chest dips.

Note: these were only a few exercises, not the entire workout.

3:39 pm: Workout Finished

That’s a wrap on a tough and sweaty chest pumping workout.

I got a really good pump from it.

The length of the workout was great, as it was just under an hour long.

Check out the full Live Lean MASS 2.0 muscle building program here.

Now that the workout is finished, it always important to be prepared by bringing your post workout protein shake with you, if you’re not going back home.

post workout shake recipe for muscle gain

After your workout, food is fuel.

Since you saw how empty my fridge was, it’s now time to go directly from the gym, to the grocery store.

4:43: Grocery Store

Just had a successful and quick trip to the grocery store.

Let’s get this food home and I’ll show you what I bought.

But first, here were my grocery store observations.

Observation #1: why do people who shop in the organic section always seem to be happier?

I admit I don’t buy everything organic, but every time I go into the organic section, people are laughing and smiling.

Organic vs Non-Organic Fruits And Vegetables

Then when you go down the typical conventional grocery aisles containing potato chips, boxed cereal, and all the other refined crap, people are cranky.

Coincidence?

I think not.

Observation #2: Stay on the perimeter aisles.

4:58 pm Showing The Grocery Haul

Let’s check out the food in my three bags of groceries.

Also, see if you can detect a theme with the foods that I bought.

Here’s what I bought:

Vegetables:

  1. Kale
  2. Spinach
  3. Spaghetti Squash
  4. Asparagus
  5. Brussels Sprouts
  6. Sweet Potatoes

Note: I don’t just eat brussels sprouts because they are healthy. They are also one of my favorite vegetables.

Healthy Fats:

  1. Avocados
  2. Raw Almond Butter

Fruit:

  1. Lemons

Protein:

Now my question to you is, what’s the commonality amongst all of these foods?

Here’s the answer.

There is only one ingredient found in every food.

In other words, all these foods are real and all natural.

When you get my Eat Clean Live Lean cookbook, I’ll teach you how to make these real foods taste delicious.

Once you start consistently eating real food, it’s going to make your body look good and feel sexy, as well as giving you lots of energy.

Eating real food will give you all of this.

You just have to eat right.

And that’s why you’re here.

I’m teaching you how to eat, by showing you what I eat in a day.

Giddy up.

5:21 pm: Making Dinner

For dinner, I’m making baked chicken.

I simply put 4 chicken breasts on a baking sheet, then added a bunch of healthy spices and seasonings.

Healthy Cooking With Herbs Spices And Other Seasonings

For this meal I added sage, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and a few others.

I put it in the oven at 375F, and bake for 35 minutes, then it’s done.

This then gives you 4 servings of chicken to eat at other times of the day.

Once again, this is another example of cooking in bulk.

That way I’ll have food already prepared to eat tomorrow rather than having to keep cooking like this every day.

Simply cook more than you need, then you can eat it as leftovers whenever you want.

Once the chicken breast is finished baking, I slice it up and add to a plate with spinach and sliced bell peppers.

6:56

I think I found a solution to the issue of my phone always falling off of the holder in my car.

Since I’m filming this what I eat in a day video for YouTube with my iPhone, the phone holder has to be able to hold the phone horizontally, not vertically.

This way the black bars don’t show up when you upload the video to YouTube.

The solution is double-sided tape.

Genius, I know.

Fun random fact: one thing you may not know about me is I’m the self-proclaimed world’s greatest parallel parker.

9:56 pm: Last Meal Of The Day

For the last meal of the day, I’m eating my eggs outside on my deck.

Some people may find it weird that I’m eating eggs at the end of the day, but I like to eat non-traditional food for breakfast.

Then at nighttime I sometimes enjoy eating eggs.

For this meal, I scrambled up some eggs with curry, salsa, and spinach.

It’s really good.

While I eat this, I’m doing some work on the Eat Clean Live Lean Cookbook.

It was so much work to complete it, but it’s ready for you now.

Once I finish my eggs, I’m going to go inside and read a little bit before calling it a night.

10:35: Going To Bed

Alright I’m now in bed, so you have to get going.

But before you do, I just wanted to say thank you so much for tuning in and spending the day with me.

It’s been a busy day, but I hope you enjoyed seeing what I eat in a day.

I also took you to the gym, the grocery store, my meeting, and to the lake with Peyton.
