On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we’re answering a viewer question who asked, what are the best post workout carbohydrates to restore muscle glycogen and liver glycogen?
Today’s viewer question is from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 020.
Here’s today’s viewer question:
apexer4eva from Snapchat says:
After a workout, what kind of carbs should be consumed? I hear the carbs from fruit will only restore liver glycogen, not muscle glycogen.
Brad: Fruit sugar is fructose that gets stored in your liver, not necessarily in your muscle cells.
The answer to your question is, yes have fruit in there, but you should also have some glucose in there as well.
When it comes to glucose, what I like is maple syrup and honey.
The fruit is typically a banana, pineapple, or mango.
By doing this, not only are you filling your liver cells, you’re also filling your muscle cells, which is an important part of the muscle recovery process as well.
So make sure you get a carbohydrate source high in glucose post workout as well.
