On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we’re answering a viewer question who asked, can I consume canned coconut milk in my shakes when losing weight?

I recently stumbled upon your 14 Day Lose Fat Quickly Diet Challenge. I was wondering if I can consume coconut milk during this challenge, because I want to make my protein shake thicker?
Jess: We definitely love coconut milk and we use it all the time.
But you do have to realize that it’s very high in calories.
So you have to fit it into your diet, instead of just adding it on top, if your goal is a fat loss.
Brad: We’re assuming when you say coconut milk, you’re referring to the canned coconut milk, because it’s thicker.
Jess: That’s what we use.
Brad: Canned coconut milk is a lot higher in calories, but it’s good source of calories because it’s coming from healthy fats.
However, if you’re referring to carton coconut milk, it’s going to be lower in calories.
Jess: Yeah, that’s lower in calories.
Hopefully you’ve watched the videos about how to calculate your macros and how important macros are to your results.
Especially for a lot of newbies, they start changing the types of foods they’re eating, but they don’t necessarily know how much to eat.
If you knew your macros, and you know the macros of the amount of coconut milk you want to use, you could see if that fits, or if it blows you over.
You don’t want to have your calories too high if your goal is fat loss or even body recomposition, because then you could be a little frustrated with the results.
