On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we answer a viewer question who asked: can you out exercise a bad diet?
This is another episode from our #WayBackWednesday series, where we highlight the best questions from previous episodes of our #AskLiveLeanTV Q&A show.
This question is from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 003.
zain1998ak on Snapchat asks: my question is about out training a bad diet. My diet is very bad as I have to eat what is cooked for the family. This includes a lot of grains, like wheat and rice. I’ve been training for a while now, so can you out exercise a bad diet? What changes can I do?
So can one out train a bad diet?
There is no sugarcoating it.
I have to keep it real, and give it to you straight man, because that is what this #AskLiveLeanTV series is all about.
So let me just tell you the way it is.
What you eat is so vital to your overall health.
Unfortunately your diet is the number one thing when it comes to how you look and feel, and how you perform.
For example, my boy Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors is an all-round athlete and NBA all-star.
However in 2015, Kyle Lowry was chubby.
So think about that.
Even though Kyle Lowry is a professional athlete, meaning he’s killing his workouts and training in the gym all the time, he still had a high body fat percentage.
The rumored cause of this was going out and eating too much fast food at night.
In other words, his bad diet essentially got out of control.
Then in 2016, he hired a personal chef, which helped him get his body fat percentage down to 5%.
This change in diet helped him play one of his best seasons of his career, minus the playoffs ;(
The point is, when it comes to training vs eating, you can’t out train a bad diet.
Again, this isn’t just true from a performance and physique standpoint, it’s also true for your overall health.
It’s like we always say:
Based on this, you just can’t out exercise a bad diet.
Better yet, if you really want to get 100% results, you should give your diet and workouts 100% of your attention.
There is no skimping on one and making it up with the other.
For example, I had a pizza earlier, but I also killed it today with my workout and ate healthy earlier in the week.
So you have to find that balance.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about making progress and doing the best you can, given the situations you have.
But just know that the results are going to be disappointing, because you will not be happy with the outcome.
This is why we promote and focus so much of our content on nutrition.
Simplify your diet with our Live Lean 20 Diet system.
We’re on a mission to help everyone all around the world, have a better diet, because a healthy diet will lead to better outcomes.
I know it’s hard, but do your best to eat healthy.
It is so worth it.
