On today’s vlog episode of Live Lean TV, I’m taking you on a Costco food haul shopping trip to build muscle.
In Live Lean Life Vlog Ep. 014 I share:
I’m feeling super sluggish and brainless right now because I just ate at In-N-Out Burger.
However, I didn’t just eat a normal amount of food.
I ordered:
It’s been a really long time since I ate fast food french fries, so it’s safe to say this order beat me up.
The only reason we ate at In-N-Out burger for lunch was because we didn’t have any food at home.
This leads me to one of the most important nutrition tips.
Make sure the fridge in your kitchen is always stocked full of good foods.
To make myself feel better, I really wanted to get out for some activity, and go for a workout.
However, before doing that, I first had to go to get groceries at Costco.
While I was driving to Costco, I was stuck in LA traffic.
Even in the Costco parking lot, they have parking attendants telling you where to park.
The best way to spend your time in traffic, is to listen to our Live Lean Podcast.
If you are not listening yet, go download it on your phone, and listen to it while you’re sitting in traffic.
All right, let’s go battle the lines of Costco.
As soon as I arrived, I set my timer to see how long I was going to be there.
Put your guess in the comment section below.
Let’s go.
I posted on my Instagram that my blender just literally broke at home.
One person commented that they were going to buy me a new blender, however I need one right now.
Since I’m already at Costco, I decided to buy the same blender that just broke.
Even though it’s a cheap blender, I really like that it has a glass blender jar.
This is important because when I’m making my coconut oil coffee, I don’t like putting hot coffee in a plastic blender jar.
Unfortunately all the other blenders, including the Vitamix and Blendtec have a plastic blender jar.
While I was walking over to the grocery aisles I saw a super comfortable fur rug that I would totally have some fun with.
Maybe we’ll get it when we move into the new condo.
Fun fact, Jessica loves Cheez-It crackers.
However, based on the box size at Costco, she we destroy me if I brought this home for her.
I actually bought her these before and she said, “Don’t bring that size of a box into the house!”.
This brings me to another important nutrition tip.
Don’t bring junk food in bulk, into your house.
However, when it comes to healthy food, go big and buy it in bulk.
Also, if you’re buying meat at Costco, it’s nice to wrap it in a plastic bag.
One time I remember the lady that worked at the Costco check out counter said they appreciate it when you put the meat in the provided plastic bags, so they don’t have to touch it during the checkout process.
Even though the Kirkland organic ground beef packaging looks like it could be grass fed due to the green grass on the label, since “grass fed” is not listed, I don’t think it actually is.
Costco does have organic free range chicken breast from Foster Farms, however I prefer to buy the frozen organic chicken breasts since it is cheaper.
When you walk down the meat aisle a little but further, you will find the organic free range ground turkey from Foster Farms, which I like.
I also like the seasoned tri-tip.
One thing I don’t like about Costco is they don’t have wild salmon.
They do have farmed salmon, however I’m not a huge fan of it.
Unfortunately Costco also didn’t have fresh cod either.
This Organic Chunky Guacamole from Good Foods sounds good, however anytime you buy something packaged, you have to look at ingredients.
Here is the Organic Good Foods Chunky Guacamole ingredients list:
Based on this, Organic Good Foods Chunky Guacamole is Live Lean approved.
Into the cart it goes.

That is it.
Time to head to the checkout and see how long this entire grocery trip took me, and how much it cost.
By the time I checked out and was walking back to the car, this Costco grocery shopping trip took me 49 minutes and 40 seconds.
Side note: Be a good person by always returning your carts back to the cart correl.
Like I’ve said before, doing the little things in life shows in all areas of your life.
Since I always get the question, “How much do you spend on groceries?”, let’s take a look at the grocery receipt.
This entire Costco grocery haul cost I $215.01.
However, I got $100 off.
How did I get $100 off you asked?
Well, it’s because of people like you.
One of our Live Lean TV followers sent us a $100 gift card to Costco as a special thank you and congratulations present for giving birth to Kyla.
Big thank you to Joe K. from Boca Raton, Florida.
Thank you so much for that Costco gift card.
We just turned that $100 gift card into gains!
Let’s go home and see if I can get all of these groceries into the house by myself.
This Costco grocery trip was an example of how movement creates action and action creates results.
Since I didn’t have any food in the house, I ate like crap, which made me feel lazy.
Even though I felt this way, I knew if I got out, moved my body, and went grocery shopping for healthy food, I wouldn’t be tempted to continue eating bad food.
Winning.
Once I got all the groceries put away, Kyla was starting to wake up.
Later that night Jessica and I were getting ready to film an episode of our #AskLiveLeanTV podcast.
We were hoping Kyla would let us work and film, by staying quiet on the set.
Well, that was a fail.
As soon as we were all mic’d up with all the equipment set and ready to film, Kyla started crying.
We may need to find a nanny to watch Kyla while we film, because Bruno is not doing a good job babysitting.
Since we couldn’t film while Kyla was crying, we decided to take Kyla and Bruno out for a late night walk, then call it a night.
We’ll have to film the #AskLiveLeanTV podcast tomorrow, while she is sleeping.
As new working parents, we have to now work around our baby’s schedule.
If you haven’t checked out or subscribed to the podcast yet, go over to Apple Podcasts and do that now.
You can also watch the episodes on our Live Lean TV YouTube channel.
However, like I said earlier, I would love it if you listen to the podcast in your car or whenever you have free time, including when you’re walking the dog, or going for a walk with your baby.
