No need for expensive alkaline water machines or alkaline water bottles with built-in filters to add minerals.
While the exact pH increase will vary depending on water quality, this recipe typically raises the pH to a slightly alkaline level around 8.0-9.0.
If you have pH test strips, you can test the water to check the pH.
I use these pH test strips from Amazon.
I performed a pH test on my Aquasana under sink filtration water system.
It showed a neutral pH between 6-7.
After adding 1/8 tsp of baking soda, it raised the pH between 8-9.
You can also adjust the amount of baking soda slightly up to 1/4 teaspoon if you want a higher pH, but it’s recommended not to exceed 1/4 teaspoon per liter to avoid overly alkalizing the water.
Store this homemade alkaline water in a clean, sealed bottle or container in the refrigerator to keep it fresh, then consume within a day or two.
