On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I answer a question from a viewer who asked, how long does it take to transform your body?
I also share my story of how long it took me, as well as the mistakes I made during my journey.
This was a question from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 012 and was specifically for Jessica.
sarahgaskin250kchalleng on Instagram asks: Here’s a question for Jess. How long does it take to transform your body? In #AskLiveLeanTV episode 007, you mentioned when you decided to focus and get it done, it only took you a few months to get your body where you wanted it. What was your starting point? Were you overweight or always pretty healthy? What did you do in terms of diet, routine, and schedule? How did you stay focused? Thanks in advance.
Did I say it only took me a few months to transform my body?
I guess I did, because I remember when Brad said it took him a lot longer to transform.
However, when I say “a few months”, I meant 6 months.
I guess some people may say that’s more than a few months 😂.
Although I wouldn’t say I was at my ideal body at this point, 6 months was how long it took me to see my first dramatic transformation.
However, after my initial 6 months was up, I definitely wasn’t done with my overall transformation.
In other words, I didn’t just stop working out, because that is not how Living Lean works.
When I first started training, I went into a 6 month period of intense focus.
During this time, I made so many mistakes, which is why I never truly reached my ideal body.
This was also when I did my first fitness competition, so I was dialed.
Although I dramatically transformed my body, I ended up being too skinny though.
That’s why I say I wasn’t done transforming yet.
After the initial 6 months, I then went on a muscle building phase.
This is when I started to slowly figure things out over the years.
It took me many years to really get my body to, what I considered, ideal.
My biggest dieting mistake happened way before I met Brad.
During my initial 6 month transformation period, my diet was really strict.
I did all my calculations, including how many calories I should be eating in a day.
Unfortunately, I went on a 1200 calorie diet.
I followed this low calorie approach because all the experts in the magazines were telling me to do it that way.
However, after meeting Brad, I realized he was not one of those people.
While following a daily diet of 1200 calories, I was also doing cardio every day, and weight training 5 times a week.
One thing I did right was having a plan to keep me accountability.
I made a hand written calendar, on a giant piece of paper, that I hung on the wall.
Then I would mark off the days and record my workouts.
Even though I was in school attending college and working full time, I was still finding the time to fit everything in.
Since I had a workout plan to follow, I was insanely laser focused on following my workouts and diet.
The bottom line is I had a vision for what I wanted and I had a plan of action, with a timeline and deadline.
This helped me dial in my mindset.
Since I had my action plan posted on the wall, I always had a daily reminder of exactly what I needed to do, to make my vision a reality.
That’s my story of what it took to make my dramatic transformation.
I hope this answers your question about how long does it take to transform your body?
As you’ve seen, my fitness journey has been filled with highs and lows.
I’ve been on that yoyo cycle where things were really good, until they turned really bad.
So I totally understand what it’s like to feel so motivated and driven, to only lose it all.
Or to have a really clean and healthy diet, only to feel so deprived that you completely lose control, and things begin to backfire on you.
I hear this from so many people who are also struggling to find that ongoing and steady motivation.
If you’re still in that yoyo cycle, I want to personally help you.
I have been successfully Living Lean for 7 years, so my journey is now real, even through two pregnancies.
So I want to pass this on and give you the ability to stay lean and fit, all the time, rather than just during the on-season.
If you want help reaching that steadiness, I want to help you get there.
If you’ve been watching for a long time, but you still don’t feel like you’re Living Lean, it’s time to fix that.
I just recently started taking one-on-one coaching clients again.
However, I still have really limited availability since I’m still raising 2 young kids in quarantine, with no access to schools.
But if you are interested in coaching, and we’re a good fit for each other, reach out to me, because I want to help coach you one-on-one.
Send me an email here and we can see if this will be a fit for us.
I hope to connect with you soon.
