On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we answer a viewer question who asked how much is too much exercise?

This question is from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 007.

Here’s today’s viewer question:

@karlagaytan42 on Twitter asks: I’m an athlete that does morning strength workouts everyday, then two and a half hours of soccer. Is that too much? How much is too much exercise?

Wow, strength workouts and two and a half hours of soccer every day?

Yeah, that’s quite a bit of exercise, but it really depends on what your goal is.

If you’ve only been doing this for one week and you’re starting to reach burn out, it’s probably too much exercise.

But if you’re training to become a professional athlete, with the goal of playing for the United States women’s olympic soccer team, you will have to make training your priority.

The same applies if you are training to go on the stage for a bodybuilding or fitness competition.

The amount of training all depends on your goals

To answer the question of how much is too much exercise, it really depends on the person and their goal.

If you are just training for everyday fitness and fun, lifting weights plus two and a half hours of soccer everyday could be excessive, and not required based on your goals.

The amount of workout time is going to be different depending on your goals.

If your goal is to simply feel healthier, have more energy, lose a few pounds, or gain a little bit of muscle, the amount of workouts and time you will have to spend in the gym is going to be less.

What if I’m training to be a professional athlete?

Let’s just say the girl who asked this question is training to make the United States women’s olympic soccer team.

Then yes, this amount of exercise might work for her goals, as long as she also has her nutrition and sleep on point.

This is required so she can properly recover from all that training.

But if she was just training to look and feel better, and get more confidence, this is probably going to be overtraining.

Bottom line: how much is too much exercise?

If you’re totally loving life and you absolutely love doing strength workouts and two and half hours of soccer everyday, this could be amazing for you.

If this is the case, we really can’t tell you it’s too much exercise.

Remember, context is everything.

I will say this though.

I don’t know how old you are, but if you’re 16, and working out is just a hobby or a passion, I would recommend you also enjoy time with friends and family.

Don’t make your life all about soccer, lifting, and working out.

Here’s how to take all the guesswork away from your workouts
