On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing tips on how to avoid getting sick like I just did.
I would have loved to share a workout video today, but if you watch the video, you can easily tell from my voice, that I’m sick.
Yes, I’m sick.
If you’re new to Live Lean TV, usually I’m full of energy as I put you through a kick butt workout.
But, I just can’t do it today guys.
I’m sorry, and I apologize, because this weekend I failed.
However, it’s actually a good segue into another important topic that I want to discuss.
I’m not perfect.
In fact, this is what happens to me, when I don’t follow my own teachings.
So if you’re wondering how to avoid getting sick like I just did, do not follow in my footsteps from this past weekend.
Let me share a quick story.
This weekend I let things get out of hand a little bit.
My mind is constantly racing as I have a lot of personal things going on in my life, including moving into a new apartment.
This stress has stopped me from getting my regular 7-8 hours of sleep.
When I don’t get my sleep, I’m not the same guy.
Rather than keeping my fridge stocked with healthy food, I let it go empty.
For some reason, I just didn’t feel like going to the grocery store to buy food.
This meant I ran out of the food staples:
Everything in my fridge was depleted.
So lets just say I was feeding myself food that was low in vitamins and minerals..
And now I’m sick.
Yes, I do indulge every once in a while with a little too much alcohol.
In this circumstance, it was Saturday night and one of my friends asked me to hit up the clubs, and I didn’t have it in me to say no.
In other words, I took one for the team.
Yes, I went out, had a little too much fun, and never got home until 4am.
This not only ruins your quality of sleep, but when you have to get up at 7am to take care of your dog, it also limits the quantity of sleep.
Also, now that I have kids, who bring a lot of germs into the house, I also do this hack, that I shared on our Instagram.

All these factors have led me to where I am right now.
Being sick.
This doesn’t happen to me very often.
In fact, I haven’t been sick in years.
When your body is depleted, your probability of getting sick is much higher.
By depleted, I mean:
All of this means your immune system is bound to crash, especially as you age.
When you let all of this get out of whack, your body will get sick.
I definitely dropped the ball this week, but this is a good wake up call for you.
I like to think I don’t get sick very often because I’ve built a strong immune system.
To strengthen your immune system and avoid getting sick:
Having a strong immune system will help your body fight off the germs.
Even though this is all common sense, sometimes the choices we make are just bad.
I have no other excuse and I’m paying for my bad choices right now.
However, I guarantee that I will not be sick again for years, because the last time I was sick, it was four or five years ago.
So when I do get sick, it does usually hit me pretty hard.
I feel like I’m getting better, so I know I’m on the way back up.
I’ll be back again tomorrow with another edition of Food Wars, as well as another butt kicking Tabata workout after that.
I’m calling this tabata workout, “The Payback”.
