How To Do A Neutral Grip Lat Pulldown Correctly

The Neutral Grip Lat Pulldown is a great exercise that targets the muscles in your back.

The primary difference between the neutral grip lat pulldown and the standard lat pulldown is the neutral grip targets the middle back and biceps, while the standard lat pulldown focuses more on the upper back and lats.

To get started:

  1. Sit down at a lat pulldown machine with your knees just underneath the pads.
  2. Extend your arms into the air to grab the attached v-bar with a neutral grip.
  3. Keeping your core tight, chest up, and your torso stationary, contract your lat muscles to pull the v-bar down to your upper chest.
  4. Think about moving the bar with your back muscles, not your arms.
  5. Contract the back muscles for a good squeeze at the bottom of the lift, then under control, reverse the movement back to the starting position, with your arms fully extended and lats fully stretched.
  6. Repeat.
