How To Do A Single Leg Dumbbell Step Down Correctly
The Single Leg Dumbbell Step Down is a exercise that targets the legs and improves balance.
It can also be used as a beginner modification to the pistol squat.
To get started:
Hold a pair of dumbbells and stand sideways with one foot on top of a step, box, or bench that’s approximately 18 inches high, while the other foot hangs in the air.
Contract your core by pulling your belly button towards your spine and keep your chest up as you slowly bend your knee of the planted leg to lower your other leg towards the floor.
Lightly tap the floor with your heel, then press your planted foot through the step to extend your leg back to the starting position, with your other foot stilling hanging in the air.
Complete all the reps with one leg, then switch sides and repeat.
