How To Do A Standing Dumbbell Twist Correctly

The standing dumbbell twist is an excellent rotational exercise that lights up your core muscles, especially your obliques.

This helps develop power for swinging and throwing, since it assists in helping your abs work synergistically with your hips and lower back, during the rotation.

To get started:

  1. Grab a dumbbell and hold it vertically with both hands.
  2. Raise the dumbbell in front of you, with straight arms, so it’s parallel to the floor.
  3. Contract your core and twist to one side, just past your shoulders, without moving your lower body.
  4. While maintaining tight abs, return back to center, then twist to the opposite side.
  5. Repeat.
