How To Do The Breakdancer

Live Lean Nation, on today’s exercise demonstration, I’m showing you a video tutorial on how to do the breakdancer.

Yes, the other day I was at the gym, doing my ab workout, and a lot of people asked me about this specific ab exercise.

If you’ve ever wanted to be a breakdancer, and get a super stronger core at that same time, this is the ab exercise for you.

Targeted Muscle: Overall core, abs, and obliques

The breakdancer is a challenging exercise that not only tests your coordination and balance, but also revs up your heart rate and strengthens your core, especially your obliques.

How to do a Breakdancer:

Watch the Breakdancer exercise demonstration video.

To get started:

  1. Get into a push up plank position, with your hands directly below your shoulders and your toes planted into the floor.
  2. Keep your core and glutes contracted to stabilize your body and keeping your hips from rising or sagging in the air.
  3. Once you’re stabilized, bring one leg under and across your body as you twist to one side. Keep your leg as straight as possible.
  4. Reverse the move back to the push up plank position and quickly repeat the movement to the other side.
  5. Repeat for reps.

A typical set of the breakdancer could be programmed into your workout as follows:

  • Reps: 30 seconds
  • Sets: 3 sets
