I don’t have an issue with drinking coffee, as I’m a big fan of caffeine in moderation, and coffee can be a good source of antioxidants.

The only issue I have is what people add to their coffee, to make it taste better.

These unhealthy ingredients includes fattening sugar and artificial sweeteners, as well as dairy milk.

So in this iced protein coffee recipe, I’m showing healthy ingredient swaps, to add to your coffee.

These healthy ingredients will not only add delicious flavor to your coffee, but they’ll also help increase your consumption of muscle building protein and healthy fat.

Healthy coffee ingredient swaps:

Fun fact: at the time of filming, I never had a full cup of hot coffee before because I never liked the taste.

I don’t know why, I just never fell into the coffee trend.

At the time, I also didn’t like the bitter taste of black coffee.

So few months prior, I started experimenting by adding coffee to my protein shake, to increase the antioxidant and energy boosting properties.

Smells just like coffee.

It also has a frosty and icy texture, just like a regular iced coffee.

Also, there’s one word to describe how it tastes.

Delicious.

Damn that’s good!

I’m definitely not a coffee sommelier, but I still enjoy the flavor of coffee.

To me this probably tastes like a mochachino or one of those speciality sugar filled coffees you buy at Starbucks or Tim Horton’s.

Plus this iced coffee recipe contains muscle building protein, healthy fats from the coconut milk, and extra antioxidants from the cacao powder and coffee beans.

It’s going to give you that energy boost that most people crave in the morning, without all of the traditional junk ingredients that are added to most coffees.

  1. Brad! I’m definitely going to have to give this a shot, it sounds delicious! I have been making a similar version lately minus the blender and often add a half scoop of whey into my hot coffee, but sometimes it lumps together and almost seems to curdle and tastes really gross…I’m not sure why it does that and I haven’t heard of others complaining of the same thing…I’ll try this instead!

  2. question… i actually dont like coconut is there another type of milk i can use for the iced protein coffee…. thanks

  3. Aww yeah! I have all of these ingredients, except I’m a vanilla protein kind o’ lady. I’m about to do my upper body/abs workout so I’ll try this bad boy out when I’m done. (I need the boost from the coffee today. lol)

PS: I can’t do hot coffee. Only the iced version. 🙂
