On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we answer a viewer question who asked, is it good to take a nap after a workout?
This was an older question from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 008.
GregXXD on YouTube asks: Hey, is it normal that I want to sleep after a hard workout and good meal? Should I resist it or sleep for an hour? Is it good to take a nap after a workout?
We would say this is totally normal.
Although Jessica doesn’t feel sleepy after her workouts anymore, when she first started training, she definitely felt her workouts wiped out her energy.
Taking a nap after your workout is the absolute best thing you can do.
So if you have the time and the lifestyle where you can do it, go ahead and take a little cat nap after your training.
100%.
Naps are so good for your body, especially after a workout, because your body needs to recover.
If everybody had a lifestyle that allowed them to take a nap after their workout, I’d highly recommend it.
Unfortunately, most people don’t have a lifestyle that allows them to nap after their workout.
Most people have to go to work after their workout, or it’s already late at night.
Speaking of workouts late at night, this is actually one of the good reasons for training at night.
When you workout at night, you get to go to sleep and recover immediately after your workout.
But here’s the problem with working out late at night.
For some people, including me, working out amps us up so much, that we can’t fall asleep right away.
Going into a food coma is also really common, especially if the meal is quite heavy, and has a lot of fat and carbohydrates in it.
This food combination can really put you into a coma and make you sleepy.
If you can take a nap after a workout, do it.
It is definitely a good thing to speed up your muscle recovery.
I don’t see anything wrong with it, so don’t fight that urge, if your lifestyle allows for it.
Just give in.
