On today’s vlog episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing my Rootz Energizing Superfood pre-workout powder review, a gym workout, and how I got my black eye.
In Live Lean Life Vlog Ep. 025 I share:
Before I went to the gym at 8:30am in the morning, I drank one half gallon of water.
I’ll finish my second half gallon of water during my workout.
This means I will have a gallon of water before 10-11am.
For today’s pre-workout drink, I’m adding BCAA powder to a new pre-workout powder from Rootz Nutrition, called Energizing Superfood.
Rootz Energizing Superfood is a pre-workout powder that contains all natural ingredients, including:
Energy and Strength Blend: 870 mg
Metabolism Stimulation Blend: 5,660 mg
Vascularity and Anti-Inflammation Blend: 100 mg
Superfood Blend: 410 mg
Other Ingredients:
Caffeine:
I like how it contains a vascularity blend to give you the pump at the gym and uses stevia, which is natural sweetener, for flavor.
Rootz Energizing Superfood is also:
Have you seen a pre-workout powder with ingredients like this?
I have not found a pre-workout powder that is this clean.
In a blender, I add the last 12-16 oz of water from my first half gallon, then add one scoop of Rootz Energizing Superfood powder and one 5 mg scoop of BCAA powder from Myprotein.
Despite the label indicating a raspberry lemonade flavor, I didn’t taste that flavor.
Since there are no artificial sweeteners, it taste more like tea, rather than a sweet raspberry lemonade flavor.
Therefore, if you are used to drinking very sweet pre-workout drinks, this flavor may not appeal to your taste preferences.
However, if you are more interested in the health benefits, it’s definitely drinkable.
If you prefer a sweeter pre-workout drink, you can also add more stevia powder or liquid stevia drops to it.
By incorporating a clean natural sweetener like stevia, you can enhance the flavor of your pre-workout without compromising its cleanliness.
Since my gym is only a 10 minute walk from my condo, I mix this pre-workout drink at home.
I’ll either put it in a shaker cup and drink it while I’m walking, or I’ll just pour it into a glass and drink it at home.
Either way, by the time I get to the gym, I’m already feeling the pumps and am ready to go destroy some barbells, kettlebells, or whatever workout I’m doing.
That is what my pre-workout drink currently looks like.

This Fit Athletic Club in downtown San Diego is a legit and sick gym.
Not only does this gym have an amazing view, it also has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, patio, and BBQ pit.
It’s worth all the money that I pay to be a member here.
I haven’t used this swimming pool or this area yet, but I think I’m going to have to put it to work.
I can even take my laptop out here, sit on one of the lawn chairs or seats, and do some work.
Essentially, I could get in a swim workout and a real gym workout, during one session.
This gym is on point.
I wish I had a cool story to tell you about how I got my black eye.
However, here is what happened.
Jessica challenged me to somersault down a hill, then immediately jump up into the air.
Unfortunately all the somersaults made me disoriented, thus landing flat on my face.
Oh well, it happens.
To help heel my wounds, Jessica applied hydrogen peroxide, which is an antiseptic, to my black eye and scrapped shoulder to reduce the risk of infection.
While she was doing that, I was holding Kyla, which was probably not a good idea since the hydrogen peroxide burned, which made me squeeze her tight 😂.
When you see the hydrogen peroxide bubbles, it means it is doing it’s job.
I told Kyla that this is what happens when your daddy acts like a little kid.
However, it’s one of those things that happens when you are a 36 year old man, with the goal of staying young.
You have to be tough in life.
When I looked in the mirror, I could tell my eye was quickly getting worse.
Once all the dirt was flushed out, I got bandaged up, then it was time to put some ice on it to reduce the swelling.
My eye was really puffy, but I’m just looking at it as a battle scar that life throws at you sometimes.
You just have to own it and keep moving on.
Even though I now have a black eye, a bum shoulder, and sore wrists, at least I still have my gains 😜.
I’m also grateful my teeth were okay.
I would rather rock a black eye than broken teeth.
Even though my wrists are sore, I’m sure they are fine and not broken.
It’s funny because Jessica has a YouTube video of her breaking her wrist at the gym.
Now I have my black eye video on YouTube.
This is just payback.
I wonder if people are going to think that Jessica’s beats me?
I’m really curious to see what it will look like when I wake up tomorrow morning.
