Stop Eating These “Breakfast” Foods

How many of these foods are you eating for breakfast?

Unfortunately, we’ve been brainwashed by food marketers into believing only certain foods are classified as “breakfast foods”.

For example, in the comment section below, tell me what is the first type of food that comes to mind, when you hear the word breakfast?

Here is the best breakfast for weight loss.

The Best Breakfast For Weight Loss

I’d be willing to bet most of the breakfast foods that initially come to your mind, are processed and refined carbohydrates, that are filled with nasty fattening ingredients.

But before I share the 8 worst breakfast foods for weight loss, I always share the different types of breakfast that I eat every morning on my second YouTube channel called Brad Gouthro TV.

I post “day in the life” style daily vlogs that includes:

  • the foods I eat every day
  • my workouts
  • behind the scenes of how I Live Lean 365 days a year

For example, in this vlog, I showed my breakfast and how I stay active on my active recovery days.

8 Worst Breakfast Foods For Weight Loss

All right, here are the 8 worst breakfast foods for weight loss, in random order, because they’re all bad.

Let’s do this.

#1. Bagels, Bread, And Muffins

Conventional bagels, bread, and muffins are full of blood sugar spiking and hunger craving inducing sugars.

They can also contain inflammation producing vegetable oils such as soybean oil, and many other chemicals and preservatives.

Think about it.

How else do you think this “fresh” food can last so long on store shelves?

Here is something else to think about.

Why do you think restaurants give you free bread at the beginning of your meal?

I’ll give you the answer.

It’s because eating bread makes you more hungry and thirsty.

The Truth about Your Bread

Next time you’re eating bread, just look at the amount of sodium in it.

With all this said, does bread sound like a food you want to start your day off with?

On top of that, think about what you typically put on you bread.

This leads me to worst breakfast food for weight loss number two.

#2. Jelly, Jam, And Conventional Peanut Butter

Jelly and jam are loaded with sugar, with no fiber to slow down the spike in blood sugar.

Say hello to energy crashes, more hunger, and binge cravings.

When it comes to peanut butter, most conventional types are essentially icing sugar with fattening oils.

Is Peanut Butter Good For You?

It’s just a terrible combination.

#3. Cereals

It’s time to bring in the science experiments.

Most cereals are filled with fattening sugars, chemicals, preservatives, artificial flavors, and coloring.

If that wasn’t bad enough, consuming conventional cereals can cause sugar crashes from the consumption of all the refined carbohydrates.

#4. Breakfast Drinks:

These breakfast drinks usually contain low quality soy protein, sugar, and so many other chemicals, fake sugars, and artificial sweeteners.

Don’t fall for the “high in protein” marketing hype on the front of the food label.

Always look at the ingredients list, as it’s usually high in crappy protein.

#5. Pancakes And Waffles

I’ll pretty much repeat what I said for all the other 8 worst breakfast foods for weight loss.

These conventional flour based pancakes and waffles are filled with hunger inducing sugars.

Plus, most people top the pancakes and waffles off with more blood sugar spiking cheap forms of fake maple syrup.

This is just causing an absolute disaster zone with your hormones.

#6. Pop-Tarts And Breakfast Bars

Pop-Tarts, really?

What are you, 8 years old?

When it comes to breakfast bars, go back and read what I said about worst breakfast food for weight loss number 1.

#7. Fruit Juice

Since all the fiber has been removed, fruit juice is essentially a glass a sugar water.

The Worst Drinks For Weight Loss

If you want fruit juice, just eat the fruit.

#8. Yogurt

When it comes to eating yogurt, always look at the ingredients list.

Is Yogurt Good For Weight Loss Or Is Yogurt Bad For You?

Many times yogurt is loaded with sugars and other crap.

Always read the nutrition facts label.

  1. What do you think of my breakfast drink? 1 cup ground organic oats, 1 tbs
sunflower seed butter, 1tsp cinnamon, sometimes a organic banana but only 3
times a week, ground flax, ground chia seeds, ground milk thistle and 17 oz
of organic coconut water with no sugar or anything else added. What do you
think? Oh and organic pumpkin powder when I can afford it (2 tbs).

  2. People, keep reaserching. Dont listen to this guys low carb bro science.
Look up the work of Dr. John Mcdougall or Dr. Greger at least.

  3. Call me crazy if you want, but I’m still going to have bacon for breakfast
on the daily. My grandpap had bacon for breakfast every day since he could
chew solid food and he lived to the ripe old age of 108 with no heart
attacks, or any other major medical problem associated with eating fatty
foods. He was still pretty healthy when he passed too. Didn’t go out in a
plume of medical issues like most old timers, he just kinda faded out
peacefully. Honestly, the things circulating nowadays about all the fatty
foods being really bad for you are mostly false. The negative effects from
foods like bacon are only going to effect most people if you are eating
nothing but fatty food all day every day in large portions. I’m not going
to get too far into it, but that is essentially why I will continue to have
3-4 bacon strips with my breakfast each and every day…forever. *DUN DUN
    DUNNN*

  4. I have always had trouble with binge cravings! It always felt like I could
not control just snarfing everything in sight. Since I cut my carbs, I
    don’t have that problem anymore!

  5. I thought this video was a joke but he’s actually serious with what he’s
thinking. This is why there’s so much bro science on youtube.

  6. I wait nearly everytime for you to upload new Video, because I love them so
    much!!!
    please follow me @MarieConnemann

  7. Usually I have scrambled eggs 2 some Turkey meat and Swiss cheese..all
mixed…maybe some salsa on it if I need extra flavor..

  8. Yeah poptarts are evil! They’re so frosty and yummy and easy to heat up.
Why can’t high fructose corn syrup be good for you!!!!!!

  9. I have toast from Trader Joe’s with almond butter, pecans, honey, and flax
seeds. And coffee with almond milk.

  10. I eat Greek yogurt and apples or another fruit though! I think the greek
yogurt only has 3-4 ingredients, but it still has cow’s milk though instead
of goat’s milk :/ so it might be keeping my tummy from shrinking. I’m
thinking about switching to just veggies & protein as my main meals….and
fruits as snacks only (for the energy boost), or for just sweet cravings
(unless its apples citrus fruits or berries cuz I eat those all the time).

  11. But is non fat natural yoghurt with zero sugar added healthier choice ?
I’ve been eating that with muesli every morning for 2 weeks.

  12. u r so hot….wish i could make a copy of u so u could be all mine… I was
always confused on what I should be eating for breakfast… will check and
subscribe to your other channel to get the 411

  13. This list makes sense. I can especially see why carby items like the muffins made it to #1. This is the typical go-to, but I’ve managed to stay away completely now that I’ve gained momentum with my eating regimen. Now, I usually have 3 eggs scrambled with Parmesan cheese, and a handful of almonds or peanuts. This gives me sustainable energy that will last me until lunch/ my workout snack before the gym, and it makes me feel tons better in the morning. I stave carbs off until lunch time or before a workout usually in the form of quinoa, vegetables, etc.

  14. What about good ole plain oatmeal? Steel cut oatmeal? I cannot tolerate
eggs more than 1 or2 times a week. Other than that a smoothie with almond
milk, fruit and protein powder is my go to. What do you think about the
sprouted grain bread? , aka flourless bread?

  15. Whole wheat bread with eggs , 100% peanut butter, light butter + a cup of
goat milk. Almost the same every morning.

  16. My work week breakfasts consist of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, 1 boiled egg, and hot tea. Easy to pack up and bring with me to the office. Other times, I’ll make a frittata with avocado. On weekends, I stir-fry veggies and make a chickpea pancake. Other times, I’ll have a banana with good quality yogurt.

  17. Coffee and later a green smoothie, potato’s, sweet potato fries bananas and
oat meal, and prunes, sweet potato fries with special tomato sauce with
cayanne pepper and tumeric or curry powder)

  18. What about the Naked brand juices? What do you think of those? Please don’t
tell me my Green Machine is bad?! I am kind of addicted…

  19. I USED to think of a huge stack of pancakes with butter and syrup, bacon or
sausage, toast with jam, sugary cereal, coffee loaded with cream and sugar,
huge costco-sized muffins, bagels…NOW I think of fresh fruit, eggs, and
lean meats. With coffee (black) 🙂

  20. I used to have a protein n fats breakfast but I’ve found because of the
amount of exercise I do I need some sort of carb in the morning also which
happens to be porridge typical I know but I wouldn’t want anything else!

  21. great episode!! first thing I think of for breakfast would definitely be
coffee! — none of those crazy sugar loaded coffee concoctions tho.. make
sure peeps don’t add sugar, learn to love it black or with coconut oil.
