Based on the positive response from part 1 of my 3 part video interview series, I know you’re going to love part 2.

If you missed the first episode, I shared my journey to building self-confidence through fitness.

My Journey To Building Self-Confidence

I shared the story of how before I got into fitness, I was never comfortable in my own body.

The reason wasn’t because I was fat, it was because I had a really low self image.

So this is the follow up to that video.

In this part 2 interview, I talk about:

  • Mental strategies for dealing with weight loss issues
  • The key to weight loss and Living Lean
  • A fun answer about what I’m like when I’m not in front of the camera.

Enjoy.

Brad Gouthro Interview Part 2 of 3

Q1. What are some of your strategies for helping people become more self aware when dealing with weight issues?

First you have to identify the problem.

So dig deep and answer the following questions:

  • What are your self destructive behaviors?
  • Where are they coming from?
  • When do they occur?
  • What’s going on with you mentally, physically, and emotionally, when they do occur?

For example, I hear the following all the time from people who work in a corporate job.

“I’m hungry at 3pm, but the only food that is available in my office is a vending machine filled with candy.”

Based on this example, you have to first identify the problem.

Problem: You don’t have healthy food options at the office.

Now that we’ve identified the problem, what is the solution?

Solution: Meal planning & meal prepping so you have access to healthy food at the office, or whenever you need it.

With that said, now I want you to think about your goals, then ask yourself the following.

Are your daily habits taking you closer to your goals, or are they taking you further away, from your goals?

Every single decision you make, either takes you closer too or further away from your ultimate goal.

For example, those fast food french fries are taking you further away from your goal.

However, that healthy and delicious salad is taking you closer to your goal.

Every decision you make has a dramatic impact on your long term goals.

Q2. In your opinion, what is the biggest key to weight loss?

The biggest key to weight loss is optimizing your body’s hormones and metabolism.

You can affect your hormones and metabolism either positively or negatively, based on the foods you’re putting in your mouth, and the way you move your body.

When you eat the right foods and move your body effectively, it will balance out your hormones, which them optimizes your metabolism to burn a lot of fat.

A few of the main hormones that play a role in Living Lean include:

All of these hormones are positively or negatively affected by the foods you eat and the amount of exercise you are doing.

They help you create either a body that is a fat burning machine or fat storing machine.

Optimizing your hormones is the key to your weight loss success.

Q3. You’re known as the guy who “Lives Lean 365”. What would you like people to know about you that they may not see on Live Lean TV?

What would I like for people to know about me that they don’t see on camera?

Well first of all, I am really just a normal person.

I grew up in a small town of just over 1,000 people, so I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.

Brad Gouthro before

My parents were both hard working teachers so they had a tremendous influence on my life.

I’m so grateful to them for teaching me the value of hard work and the value of a dollar.

And like most kids, I never tell them enough how much i appreciate them.

So mom and dad, I appreciate and love you.

I also want to point out that, just because I’m in front of a camera and you’re watching me on YouTube, or you’re using my programs, you’ve read my books, or you’ve seen me speak, I’m no different than you.

My results simply come from doing different things.

I am not smart than you and I don’t have special talents that you don’t have.

I also make mistakes and don’t claim to be perfect

For example, I like to eat the occasional pizza, I miss the odd workout, and I also like to go out and have a few drinks with my friends at the club.

How To Party On A Diet (DRINKING ALCOHOL AND LOSING WEIGHT)

However, I’ve just surrounded myself with ideas and resources that have allowed me to achieve the things I’ve done in life.

I also live life without the extremes that some fitness personalities do.

I’m not taking anything away from them, as I have mad respect for what they do.

But for me, fitness is more about living a healthy lifestyle and finding a balance, rather than being the most ripped fitness personality, with an on and off-season.

I prefer to maintain a healthy lifestyle that allows me to maintain abs 365 days a year, and still go out and live life.

I also want people to know that I really am living my message.

Everything I talk about on Live Lean TV, I employ into my own life.

I’m continually learning and testing new ideas on my body, and when they work, I teach them to you.

I live it first, then teach it, if it works.

  1. I totally agree with what you have posted here. You can affect your hormones and metabolism either positively or negatively by the foods you’re putting in your mouth and the way you move your body.

  2. Hey Brad,
What equipment does your “Awaken the Abs Within” program require?
Is a gym membership required, or are the workouts soley based upon resistance to your own
body weight? I am thinking about purchasing the program.
    Thanks

  5. What i liked the most, is the extremes thing, just wanting to live healthy all year, that´s cool because s lot of people use the trainnings as a destructive habit, hahahahah like for me for example, was in the military and a lot of trainnigs leave me with injuries….Good Day
