On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we’re answering a viewer question who asked, what is the best workout to get shredded?
Is it a combination of lifting heavy and jogging or circuit training and sprinting?
This was a question from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 013.
Eddie Vedder @muffin2loose on Twitter asks: which is best for getting shredded? Lifting heavy and running 3-5 miles, or circuit training like CrossFit and sprint training? What is the best workout to get shredded?
We’ve said it many times before.
It depends.
Don’t you hate that answer?
Well we’re sorry, but we always keep it real.
Even though it’s frustrating to hear us say that, the best answer always depends on so many different factors.
However, without knowing all those specific factors, here’s the broad answer.
In general, the best workout for getting shredded is circuit training.
But, it obviously depends on what your starting point is for your current body composition.
In particular, how much muscle do you currently have?
For example, I don’t consider skinny people shredded, because they don’t have any muscle.
Therefore, it wouldn’t make sense to put a skinny person on a circuit training program because they haven’t made any muscle gains yet.
So if you’re skinny, the best workout to get shredded would be the muscle building style workouts found in Live Lean MASS 2.0.
This is typically where you lift 70% of your 1 rep max range, in the hypertrophy zone of 8-10 reps.
This is one of the best workout styles to build muscle.
However, if you have an endomorph body type, meaning you’re already a big dude, you may just need to shred down.
If this is you, I would put you on a metabolic circuit training style program like Live Lean Afterburn 2.0.
With metabolic circuit training, you’re lifting weight, but you’re also staying athletic, while keeping rest periods short.
That way you’re moving from one exercise to the other, with very little breaks.
Although you may think you’re still getting cardio by running 3-5 miles, jogging at a steady state does not create the same metabolic boost in your body that Live Lean Afterburn workouts do.
If I had to pick one workout style option to get shredded from:
My answer would be following a workout program style like Live Lean Afterburn 2.0, then work in sprint training in combination with that.
Fortunately, we have structured our Afterburn 2.0 program to combine metabolic circuit training workouts with sprint training.
So it’s all programmed in there for you.
Ultimately the best thing you can do is get on a program, based on your goals and fitness level, then follow it.
Live Lean Afterburn 2.0 is the perfect workout program for getting shredded.
Based on all the feedback, so many people have already got shredded from this program.
