So if you don’t follow @LiveLeanTV on Instagram yet, you’re missing out on seeing what we eat in a day.

With all that said, it’s time to come join me in my kitchen.

Best fitness foods to get lean

Let’s jump in and check out what’s in my fridge.

Before filming the episode, I haven’t really looked in or organized what’s in my fridge.

So this is what it truly looks like.

What’s in my fridge?

best fitness foods to get lean

  • almond butter
  • apples

I love eating apples with almond butter.

Usually I go with raw almond butter, but since the roasted almond butter was on sale at a very cheap price, sometimes a good deal wins.

Also, since I annihilate almond butter, I bought 3 jars of it.

Sauces, condiments, and oils in my fridge

  • marinara sauce
  • sesame oil
  • tahini sauce
  • hot sauce
  • dijon mustard
  • salsa
  • omega 3 fish oil

I have some marinara sauce that is made with olive oil.

Always check the ingredients list to make sure your sauce does not contain soybean oil.

If you’ve seen my post on how to make easy healthy slow cooker recipes, this is the type of marinara sauce that I used.

I also have sesame oil that I like to add to my healthy tuna salad recipe, as well as some tahini, that I add to my fat burning chicken salad recipe.

By now, you probably know that I love my hot sauce.

I use sriracha hot sauce and add it to pretty much everything.

I also love dijon mustard and always stay fully stocked with salsa.

Lastly, for my dog Peyton, I have some omega 3 fish oil from Ascenta, that is specifically formulated for dogs.

Peyton loves it when I add this to his breakfast in the morning.

It’s great for his fur, joints, and overall health.

Vegetables in my fridge:

I also stock my fridge full of vegetables including:

  • mushrooms
  • carrots
  • tomatoes
  • onion
  • zucchini
  • spinach
  • bags of various types of salad greens
  • red bell pepper
  • yellow bell pepper
  • orange bell pepper
  • broccoli

If you couldn’t tell from the big bag of broccoli, I add broccoli to a lot of my meals.

I also eat a lot of salad greens, especially spinach, and bell peppers are one of my favorite vegetables.

Protein sources in my fridge:

  • egg whites
  • whole eggs
  • ground turkey
  • chicken breast
  • grass fed beef and steak

For protein, even though I have egg whites, I prefer to eat the whole egg.

However, sometimes when I just want throw together a quick high protein snack, I may just go with egg whites.

A few of my other favorite protein sources are ground turkey, chicken breast, grass fed beef, and steak.

I usually buy chicken breasts and steak in bulk, then portion them out into baggies, then store some in the fridge, and freeze the rest.

I also love to make meatballs out of grass fed beef.

If you want to see how I made these meatballs, I shared the recipe over on my @BradGouthro Instagram page.

Drinks in my fridge:

When it comes to drinks in my fridge, I usually keep it pretty basic with the following:

  • almond milk
  • Brita for water

I always drink a lot of water.

Let’s check out what’s in my freezer.

What’s in my freezer?

I usually buy meat in bulk, so when I haven’t already prepared it, I store most of it in the freezer.

  • ground turkey
  • chicken breast
  • steak
  • chicken thighs
  • stewed beef
  • pork tenderloin
  • frozen shrimp
  • wild haddock

I love to use chicken thighs, stewed beef, and pork tenderloin in my slow cooker recipes.

You can also use frozen shrimp in this quick and healthy snack recipe from Brad’s Cookbook.

When it comes to frozen fruit and vegetables, I also buy a lot of frozen fruit for my post workout shakes and protein smoothies, and even keep a bag of frozen vegetables in stock:

  • frozen mixed berries
  • bananas
  • bag of frozen vegetables

Yes, more vegetables.

I like to have a bag of frozen vegetables in the freezer in case I run out of fresh vegetables.

Are you seeing a common theme here?

When it comes to the best fitness foods to get lean, it’s all about protein sources from meat, fruits and vegetables for fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and healthy fats.

Finally, a freezer wouldn’t be complete without Grey Goose.

Let’s check out what’s in my cabinets.

What’s in my cabinets?

  • lemons
  • bananas
  • pineapples

I have a fruit bowl where I keep some bananas, and of course lemons, for my morning lemon water.

Lemon Water Benefits And How To Make Lemon Water

Another great source of post workout fruit is pineapple.

If you buy the whole pineapple, you have to remove the skin and core it, but sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty.

My cabinets are not just filled with food though.

I also store my slow cooker, the George Foreman grill, and my glass Tupperware in my cabinets.

In my other cabinets I have:

  • canned tuna
  • sweet potatoes
  • walnuts
  • hazelnuts
  • almonds
  • avocados
  • almond milk
  • green tea

Canned tuna can be used to make you an occasional high protein quick snack.

And don’t be fooled, I do have complex carbohydrates in my diet, via sweet potatoes.

For healthy fats, I also store bags of various nuts, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, and almonds.

Lets not forget about avocados, and one of my favorites, coconut oil.

I love the taste of coconut.

You can buy many different types of coconut oil, but I prefer buying unrefined coconut oil, rather than refined, since it tastes like coconut.

I also store more almond milk and green tea in my cabinets.

I try to have a green tea every day.

What’s on my spice rack?

Then we have all the spices lined up in my spice rack.

My favorite spices include:

  • basil
  • oregano
  • dill
  • cinnamon
  • cayenne pepper

All good stuff.

What’s in my pantry?

The last little bit of food that I have in my kitchen pantry includes:

  • more spices
  • coconut flour
  • shredded coconut
  • dates
  • vinegar
  • apple cider vinegar
  • instant coffee
  • olive oil

Did you miss the tasty bacon wrapped dates that I posted on my @BradGouthro Instagram page the other day?

I also have some instant coffee that I occasionally add to this iced protein coffee recipe for a little energy boost.

What supplements do I take?

Then we have some of my supplements.

  • protein powder
  • omega 3 fish oil

My top 2 supplements are protein powder and omega 3 fish oils.

So not only am I feeding my dog omega 3 fish oil, I’m feeding myself fish oils too.

We take care of each other.

So that is all the food in my kitchen, and what I pretty much eat on a daily basis.

Bottom line on the best fitness foods to get lean

Protein is what I surround my plate with.

Whether it’s fish, chicken, turkey, or steak, I build my meals around that protein source.

You also saw that I have a lot of vegetables in my diet, then I top that off with healthy fats.

These healthy fats come from nuts, avocados, coconut oil, and olive oil.

Then when I need it post workout, that’s where I add in some complex carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, and simple sugars from fruit for my post-workout shake.

So that is my kitchen.

Welcome to my world.

  1. Hey Brad,

Thanks you for the video! Really simple but also full of good information! Saying things is easy but doing it’s a whole different!!! You do what you say!!! Good inspiration for us! I must admit that you are very organize!!! My kitchen and especially my fridge is sometime a warzone! I thinks I:m gonna borrow your organisation (protein, veggies, fruits….

Can’t wait for the next video.

#LLTV You spoke about acidic and alkalin food and the importance of keeping the body ph around 7. My question is “How can you evaluate your PH?” I know how to do it for my pool but not my own body!!! How wrong is that!!! lol
